Ben Stein: We Essentially Have a Civil War Going On | Fox Business

Commenting on Trump’s situation:

“The media is at war with the president,” Stein said. “We essentially have a civil war going on.”

The famed economist said the political civil war is driven by the debate over sanctuary cities, which are a serious challenge to the constitution.

“These people are in open revolt against the constitution that is a very, very serious matter. It’s not a joke. It’s not trivial liberal airy fairy stuff. It’s a really serious challenge to the constitution,” Stein said

Such a good point. S-Cities are civil disobedience by office-holders. Selective secession, you might call it. State’s rights the Democrat Party way. Shades of Fort Sumter.

The 2016 Election and the Demise of Journalistic Standards – Imprimis

This working journalist with long and distinguished resume remembers when "
journalists were trusted and admired."

We were generally seen as trying to report the news in a fair and straightforward manner. Today, all that has changed. For that, we can blame the 2016 election or, more accurately, how some news organizations chose to cover it.

Among the many firsts, last year’s election gave us the gobsmacking revelation that most of the mainstream media puts both thumbs on the scale—that most of what you read, watch, and listen to is distorted by intentional bias and hostility.

I have never seen anything like it. Not even close.

That’s what you call an indictment.

A few pages into this book, I call it George Eliot revisited.

Clean copy, crisp, not a word wasted. Excellently observant of manners and customs — and speaking Christian language clearly.

Oh, I forgot, witty to beat all. A blessing, to be sure.

July 20, 1930 – Hottest Day On Record In Washington DC | The Deplorable Climate Science Blog

’30 and ’31 were record-setting years.

We think it’s hot these days? (Actually not so much here in the 40th Ward.)

If you were around then and aware — I was around (for the last 3 days of ’31), but prodigy though I may have been, was not quite alert — you go tut-tut, my chickadee.
